Oh, how time has flown.. My precious first born turned fourteen on Friday!
On most accounts, he is a fantastic kid, we really don't have much to complain about, compared to other horror teenager stories. He can be a bit of a boofhead somedays, I think that's caused by all the hormones and growth spurts. Somedays it's like "duh!" is in almost every conversation we have!
Anyhoo, I digress.
He has made some really great friends in high school, kids that on the same wavelength, well, mostly!! Even their birthdays are within a week of eachother! I think there has been a party on every weekend for the last three weeks.
One was at our place.. Board games and movies.. Well, I should rephrase that- boardGAME...singular! They chose to play the Australian version of Monopoly.. sheesh! Talk about animated! On Facebook I likened their dialogue to an episode of the Big Bang theory!! They demolished I don't know how many fun size packs of chips, m&ms, snakes and raspberries & cream, followed by a BBQ dinner, cooked by Dad. Salads supplied by yours truly, I was shocked to hear that two of the three guests actually ate salad type food!! I've always thought Boys didn't consider salad to be a food group ;)
Duct tape made an appearance during screen time for two of the guests.. Not sanctioned by me, might I add!! One of the boys talked so fast he literally -did -not -take -a - breath!! I queried if he was normally allowed to consume sugar - he assured me that he has never been hyperactive before.... 8-s
At last the six hour marathon was over, time to light the candles and sing that birthday song.. sigh.
He has now officially been a teenager for one whole year - scary stuff! It only seems like yesterday that he was a tiny bundle in our arms.
Blink, and you'll miss it!!
